I
started fly tying in late college around 1998-9 or so. I was
absolutely clueless while thinking I knew what I was doing. Over the
years I slowly learned and am still learning. After nickel and dimeing
myself to death at the local fly shop an owner of the place asked me
about coming to his house and tying with him. I jumped on the
opportunity and it helped me immensely! His name was Jack Scifres who
unfortunately has passed on.
I can't say enough for people who want to help others in their pursuit to know more. I also remember the other staff who would never offer to help but always offer something expensive. Here's to the people who are still neighborly and not looking to make a fast buck.
Good luck in this hobby and quit when it's not fun!
